Event Apps

Event Applications are usually mobile friendly iOS and Android applications. You can also create Power Web Application (PWAarrow-up-right) - same features as app but in browser. Event Apps are usually used on Conferences where attendees can find schedule of the event, create agenda of the talk, have list of sponsors, map of the venue...

Event app is great if you have a bigger community (or if you're building a bigger community). It allows you to have all content on one place.

Usage of Event App

Event App is great centralised solution for your community.

Great for:

  • Upcoming Events - by integrating Meetup.com

  • Event registration - you can use Meetup.com API arrow-up-right

  • Link to community chat or even integrated chat

  • Photo collection from meetups - by integrating Google photos

  • Video recordings

  • Announcements - integrate Twitter

  • Sum-ups from meetups

  • Newsletter

  • Fun stuff like Polls...

You can build your own Event App via Eventeearrow-up-right or Iventlistarrow-up-right

Here are a few examples of Event Apps:

Protea arrow-up-right - Created by Linum Labs which still holds custodial ship of the project but no one is working on it anymore. - Proper statement coming soon

The Gatheringarrow-up-right - Online business card kinda - It was used on IPFS Camp but creators found that maintaining a reliable fast network over IPFS wasn’t performant using the existing protocol infrastructure so it’s not being actively developed at the moment. - Read more about The Gatheringarrow-up-right

Mighty Networksarrow-up-right - Create your own app with blogs, groups, members, messaging, pools, online courses - You can use it as inspiration for your community - Free and paid plansarrow-up-right Hio Socialarrow-up-right - App that allows you to network with the attendees within the app - Host your networking event there - Demo video arrow-up-right

Bigger conferences like Devcon have Event Apps, it doesn’t mean that your community doesn’t deserve one too. Although it may sound like a lot of extra work to create Event App I think all hard work will pay off.
